Siem Reap is one of the most visited places in Cambodia due to the ancient temple complex of Angkor Wat. Up to one million tourists visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site every year. During our last vacation in Thailand, we decided to travel to Siem Reap spontaneously. Arriving late night with the bus from Bangkok and without a hotel booking, we actually relied on a TUK TUK driver to show us a nice place. But unfortunately his suggestion was totally crap.
So we sat there and searched through the internet to find a nice place.
As some of the hotels are rather downtown Siem Reap and some are outside the town, it might be difficult for you to do a decision. As we think the Glory Angkor hotel is a great place to stay, we would like to introduce it to you in this post.
The Glory Angkor hotel is only divided by the Siem Reap River from the downtown area. It took us approx. 5 walking minutes to reach the town center with the famous spots like Pub Street and the night market. Although being close to downtown the hotel is still located in a very quiet street. For us this was the perfect location.
Glory Angkor Hotel Siem Reap
The hotel offers a restaurant located in the small lobby.
We only used the breakfast included in our room rate, which was pretty good. A proper American breakfast and coffee is all we need in the mornings. 😀
Sitting next to the swimming pool, it was always a great start into the day.
The staff was super friendly and the check in was done pretty fast. If necessary they will help you in case you got any questions or need help to organize tours.
There were slight language barriers as not everyone was speaking English well, but somehow we always got what we needed.
The Glory Angkor Hotel is not a huge complex. It is rather kept in a boutique style and offers only 16 rooms which makes this place absolutely quiet and peaceful. We had booked a Deluxe King Suite with private balcony. The room offered everything we needed. The air conditioning worked fine and the WiFi was of good quality.
The small pool in Glory Angkor Hotel is a super feature. Coming back from an exhausting tour to the temples of Angkor Wat, there was nothing better than jumping into the swimming pool and cooling off. Most of the time we were the only guests using the it.
We had a fantastic stay in this hotel. If you look for a quiet neighborhood close to down town Siem Reap this is the right place for you.
