Siem Reap

Overview: Siem Reap, Cambodia. A town in the northwest of Cambodia where the old ancient kingdom began.  Angkor Wat has complex and mass temples that you can find.

Beautiful carves of mysterious faces and numerous structures were made and became the main attraction in the city. The language all over the country is Khmer and their religion is mainly Buddhism. Riel is the currency in the country. And the US Dollar is the second unofficial currency that was accepted here.

Period of Visit:  We stayed for 4 days or 3 Nights here. If you want to do more activities, embrace cultures and sightseeing. You can extend your stay.

We stayed in Glory Angkor Hotel seat in the right side of the city center across to the Siem Reap river. Only 5 minute’s walk to the Pub Street and Night Market crossing the old town bridge. Excellent location, quite street and very clean.

 Local Foods and Restaurants

Local cuisine called Khmer Food. The food portion was quite small and fulfilling. Your tummy will not feel bloated.

Itinerary:

Day 1 – Mo Chit Station,Bus Transfer to Siem Reap, Pub Street, Night Market, Khmer Food for Dinner.

Day 2 – War Museum, Killing Fields(Wat Thmey), Tonle Sap Lake, Vietnamese Floating Village, Khmer Food for Dinner, Nightlife in Pub Street.

Day 3 – Angkor Wat Temples, Angkor Thom, Terrace of the Lepper King, Bayon, Ta Phrom, Ta Keo, Phnom Bakheng, Khmer Food for Dinner, Cocktail drinks in the main centre, exotic crisp.

Day 4 – Early wake up call for transfer to the next destination.

Transportation: 

Mostly traveler takes bus from Bangkok, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia. It took us to 10 hours of our journey. We had booked the bus ticket 2 days ahead. It is better to have reservation for your bus seat as there are a lot of travelers going to this town most of the time. You can buy the ticket in Mo Chit2 Main Bus Terminal.   As the bus have 4 stops. The first, second and fourth are only 15 minutes for toilet and snacks break. And the third stop will be the long one. As you will need to cross the border from Aranyaprathet (part of Thailand) to Poi pet(Cambodian territory) and getting of a Cambodian Visa in the Immigration.

Tips and Reviews

Perfect time and setting are sunshine and sunset. And producing awesome lights for your photo. You can ask the tuktuk driver about the exact timings.

The people in Cambodia can barely speak English. Use the simple and normal words that can they understand.
